Welcome and thank you for taking the time to find out more about our new management roles. These are exciting opportunities for exciting times at Walsall Council as we move into the next phase of our continuing journey of transformation.

Renowned for its enterprising and industrial past, Walsall has for many years been reinventing itself becoming a progressive, modern and culturally diverse community. Regeneration has provided new housing, leisure facilities, hotels, a world class art gallery, hospital, college and sports hub.

Though mainly urban more than a third of the borough is farmland and green space. The new waterfront development offers town centre living with a range of stylish, contemporary apartments though country living is close by, with an array of surrounding countryside offering beautiful market towns and villages. The regional capital is Birmingham and is 20 minutes away. The city offers world class facilities, theatres, concert halls and sporting events with the commonwealth games arriving in 2022.

Walsall continues to transform and the Council continues to transform too. We have to. Our residents and local business need our support and access to our services.

To help us achieve our ambitions we have two new Executive Director and six new Director Roles created in line with our PROUD transformation Programme. PROUD has been designed specifically for Walsall and will enable us to continually improve services, our customers experience, our employee satisfaction and engagement with our service users, local communities and businesses. We have made significant progress with PROUD in many areas but we want to do more. We want you to help us drive PROUD further so we can achieve our goals, realise our ambitions and take us on to the next level and beyond.

You will feel welcome at Walsall and be well supported as a valued member of the team. We have high expectations though so you will need to be a credible, resilient manager who is prepared to challenge and be challenged, is determined and courageous enough to push boundaries and do things differently.

We invest in our people too with online access to learning and development resources and internal opportunities to gain new skills and work experience.
